I’ve recently decided to change-out my current 300 Win Mag for a Weatherby Vanguard S2 Stainless. There was nothing inherently wrong with the beautifully timbered CZ 550 Lux that I had but it had become a bit of a ‘safe queen’. I have a personal rule to never let that happen. I have some beautifully timbered antique firearms to fill that gap so I wanted something that was lighter to carry, more weather-proof and something I wasn’t afraid to get roughed-up (a little).
The only (slight) problem was that this time; I wanted something that fit me properly. Unfortunately factory length of pull is just too short for me and shooting a 300 Win Mag with its inherent recoil is a lot nicer when you have a correctly fitting stock. I decided on a HS Precision long action stock with an extra 3/4” length of pull. I figured the grey with black web should match the stainless really nicely.

I’ll be fitting the stock this week and topping with Talley light weight Weatherby Vanguard rings. I’ll provide another update (with photos) once the setup is complete.
